Walkers and walking

It's fascinating to see how different are the people you see on the Camino. And of course it's tempting to make up their stories.

There's the couple ahead, both in Lycra tights. They have matching technical clothing and a neat and minimalist pack. They're walking with top of the range aluminium poles and are setting a serious pace, marching in step.

Then there's the older woman who looks like she normally lives out of a shopping trolley. She's carrying a gnarled old stick and walks despite anyone around.

Or the group of four Uni students on a gap year. They're all holding their iPhones (or perhaps the new Galaxy S5) comparing notes or taking pictures. They have alternative clothes, maybe some beads and probably some bits of coloured string as bracelets.

Or the group of retirees who have the proper North Face equipment and are taking their time. In the evening they compare photos of the grandchildren.

And then there's that lone cyclist with his funny rear view mirror.
